What is Smart Wiring and Home Automation?

Using technology built into your home to make your life easier.

What can you do with Smart Wiring?

- Distributed Video Systems; eg, a DVD, Blu-Ray or Pay TV can be made available to every TV in your home using a distributed AV system.  Why be restricted to watching a movie in your lounge room when you can watch it anywhere?  Why have a DVD player in every room of your home when you can use just one?  Our latest systems are using HDMI distribution to send V1.4 HDMI in greater then HD resolution to your TV.  Enjoy your movies from your Media PC in full HD clarity on every TV in your home.  It’s easy!

- Distributed Music Systems: This is performed in many different ways.  You may have 4 rooms in which you want to listen to the same music, or you may have 4 rooms in which you want to listen to something different in each.  From a simple set of speakers on your patio to an unlimited room, multi source music system we can help you!  We use Hills Home Hub and Resi-linx products to achieve the best result that suits your needs with the option of wireless control of your music or a blue-tooth input from your phone or Ipod.

- Remote Control Systems;  Getting the picture or sound out to each room is the first step.  If you like you can control the picture or sound source from the room at the other end of the house.  Using a remote control system (or IR link system) allows you to control the DVD player as if it is sitting in the room with you!  This technology can also be used in the same room, such as getting your home theatre equipment concealed in a cabinet and still being able to use the remote.  This technology extends to control of any item using a remote control, such as air-conditioners, garage doors, window blinds, room lighting and even ceiling fans.

- Phone and Data; Providing access to your files, movies, images and music all over your home.  Be this simply networking a few computers together to allow them to share files or a printer, right up to a complete home network that can send movies to media players in every room. BD Live and Internet on TV functions also require data connections to your home network. This also extends to IPTV (Internet protocol Television) such as ABC iView and Bigpond TV (T-Box).

- Security; Have a camera over your front door that you can view from every TV in your home or in the same way watch your kids in the pool.

You can only enjoy the benefits of smart wiring if you are building a new home?

Incorrect.  Although it is much easier to install smart wiring systems whilst under construction it can be achieved with an existing home.  Many of our automation systems have been installed into existing homes, all you need is a little talent to get the cables in the right places.

Why use a licensed electrical contractor for my installation?
An electrical contractor has to carry an electrical contractor’s license. This can only be obtained after a certain amount of training (trade certificate or greater) and it guarantees your installer is insured in the same way an electrician has to be. Would you use anyone other than an electrician for your power points? When performing an installation we are in the ceiling, walls and under floors with electrical, phone and data services.  Using an electrical contractor ensures you are safe, your family is safe and your home is safe.  An electrical contractor’s license is renewed annually and issued by the Queensland Government Electrical Safety Office.
